How to use the u-BACCH Audio plugin with Reaper using Windows Narrator
To download and integrate the u-BACCH VST audio plugin into your music processing workflow within Reaper using Windows Narrator, follow these steps:
Activate Windows Narrator: Press Ctrl + Win + Enter.
Navigate to the u-BACCH download page.
Download the plugin: Use the Narrator's navigation commands to find and activate the "Download for Windows x64" for modern PCs or "Download for Windows x86" for 32 bit legacy systems. Please note we require Windows 10 or later.
Locate the "Install + How-To Guide" link on the same page and activate it to access detailed installation instructions and tips.
Run the downloaded installer: Find the file in the Downloads folder and open it with the Narrator's assistance, following the spoken prompts to install.
Install VB Cable here: https://vb-audio.com/Cable/
Follow any installation instructions provided.
Open Reaper. Navigate to the audio preferences located in Options > Preferences > Device.
Here, set VB Cable as your input device, and your interface or DAC as your output device. This will let you route all of your computer audio through Reaper and the BACCH Plugin.
Add a new track to Reaper. In the track’s menu click the FX option, then search for “uBACCHaudio” or navigate to it within the VST3 folder.
If the plugin isn’t showing up, go to Options > Preferences using Narrator.
In Preferences, select "VST”.
Click "Re-Scan" to add the new plugin to Reaper. You also have the option to “Edit path list” if needed.
Now we’ll need to enable the stereo input software monitoring for the track, so you can hear the audio routing into reaper.
Record enable the track by selecting the record button.
Turn on Input Monitoring by selecting the speaker button just to the right of the record button.
Click the “input” dropdown menu on the track, and select Stereo Input > Input 1/2.
Configure the plugin: With Narrator, explore the plugin's interface, using the tab and arrow keys to adjust settings based on the instructions provided in the how-to guide. A regular stereo setup will be in the 22-35 degree range.
When you’re ready to play audio through Reaper, switch your computer’s output (or your streaming app’s output) to VB “Cable Input”. This will route the audio right into Reaper.
NOTE this will change your Narrator settings unless you’ve set a default device already. Here’s a guide on that:

Save your settings and project frequently to ensure no loss of configuration.
By following the "Install + How-To Guide" that comes with the plugin, you will get specific instructions tailored for the u-BACCH plugin, which will be especially useful when configuring the plugin's parameters to your needs.
